my canggu crushes

i heard so many things about canggu that it obviously created some expectations. i saved so many instagram posts and added so many names on my to do mapstr list of all the places i wanted to visit that all looked more amazing than the others. i arrived in canggu on my own and it really is an awesome place when traveling alone. canggu does certainly not look like an authentic balinese place but it has a really special vibe. a lot of “digital nomads” call this place home and i totally understand why. what makes it magical is probably the open minded people that stay there. being able to move to a remote island, most of the time, on their own, is a really good sign that they are open minded, adventurous and that they are seeking for change, which makes them similar souls to mine. when i arrived there, it directly felt like home. everything was so easy, everything was so inspiring, everything was so beautiful and in a “superficial” way as many could say and see, really authentic and spiritual. most of the people there live their dream, quit their 9-5 job, their family, their friends, their country and started everything from scratch. so if you really think canggu is superficial, just look a little bit closer and try to see what resides behind the image it reflects.
